Faculty, students and parents will appreciate a little relief this week as Spring Recess begins for nearly 2000 Springfield children.  Many families will be celebrating religious holidays that fall during the break, including Palm Sunday, Passover and Easter, before returning back to school.  Others will take advantage of the opportunity to forget the troubles of a chaotic year affected by Hurricane Sandy by vacationing to tropical destinations.  One thing is certain, everyone will appreciate the lack of morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up traffic.  Schools will reopen on Monday, April 1st.

In a message from Florence M. Guadineer Middle School Principal Tim Kielty, parents were advised, “The Saturday Tutorial Program will not not be held on Saturday March 23 or Saturday March 30. The program will resume on Saturday April 6.”

In several e-mails sent on the Springfield Public Schools news mailing lists, subscribers were invited to attend a Community Gang Awareness Presentation by the New Jersey State Police Street Gang North Unit on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at 6:30 p.m. in the Auditorium of the Rahway 7th & 8th Grade Academy.

Edward V. Walton School parents received a notice from Principal Dr. Susie Hung about a Principal’s Tea on Tuesday, April 2nd at 9:15 a.m.  that she described as “an informal gathering to discuss and view the educational programs at Walton School.”
