The Springfield Recreation Department has released registration forms for more spring and summer programs. Applications were published on the Township of Springfield Recreation Department website for the Swim Team and Minutemen Junior Dawgs Cheerleading Women’s Summer Softball League.

The Swim Team is a collaboration between the Recreation Department and Swim Team Parent Association for girls and boys from 5–17 years of age. The Swim Team will be divided into two groups, including a developmental team. The Developmental Team will be made up of participants age 8 & under who need more instruction and guidance. All other swim team participants ages 9-17 do not need to try out, but must be able to swim a lap of the pool without stopping and be comfortable swimming in deep water in order to be a member of the team.  A Parent’s Meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, May 22nd at 7 p.m.  The total cost is $70.  Pool membership is not required for Springfield residents.  Swim Team practice will begin after school starting June 11th and in the mornings June 24th.  The swim meets (mostly evenings) run from July 1st to August 2nd.

The Minutemen Junior Dawgs Cheerleading is organized by the Recreation Department and Springfield Cheerleading for girls in grades 3-8.  Mandatory practices will be 1-2 times per week and games will be on Sundays from September to November.  Total registration cost is $85 and the final registration deadline is May 17.

The Women’s Summer Softball League is for women at least 21 years old.  Games take place during the week in the evening from June through August.  Registration is $25 to be placed on a team and includes a team shirt.

The Spring Tennis Lessons are presented by the Recreation Department and Tennis Dynamics starting April 27th and May 1st.  Each 6-week lesson is $50 for beginner/advanced beginner classes or $60 for intermediate classes and are taught at Irwin Park.
