Saint James the Apostle Parish Festival Entrance

A sure sign of Spring in Springfield is the arrival of the annual Saint James the Apostle Parish Festival that draws crowds from around the state.  The anticipation builds for local children as they see the signs advertising the festival pop up on lawns and in store fronts around town.  For five days, the parking lot of the church is transformed into a mini amusement park full of rides, games and food.  Billed as “fun for the entire family”, the event started yesterday, April 30th and runs through Saturday, May 4th until 6 p.m.

For just one price, $22, visitors will have access to a variety of rides including a ferris wheel, carousel, cars, teacups and more.  Staples like popcorn complete the festival and anyone with a sweet tooth will love the candy apples and cotton candy.  Forecasters call for clear evening skies and temperatures in the 60s all week so there’s little chance the weather will disrupt this FUN-draiser.
