The Springfield Fire Department has released statistics and brief narratives for their August activities:

Notable Incidents:

August 5th – Engine 3 (Tour 1) responded to an Irwin Street residence for an alarm sounding and odor investigation. Engine 3 found the carbon monoxide alarm sounding and vehicle running in the attached garage. The vehicle was shut off and the residence was ventilated.

August 6th – Unit 1 and Engine 3 (Tour 2) responded to a Mapes Avenue residence for smoke coming from the building. Engine 3 made entry through a window and found unattended cooking burning on the stove. The fire was confined to the container and the building ventilated.

August 13th – Engine 4 (Tour 4) responded to Briant Park Drive for a medical service call. Police, Fire and First Aid Squad performed CPR on a 34 year old male. The patient was transported to Overlook Hospital with a firefighter and police officer on-board to assist with continuous CPR. The patient was revived in the hospital.

August 14th – Engine 4 (Tour 2) responded to Main Street and Springfield Avenue for a motor vehicle crash. Engine 4 found a two vehicle crash with one driver trapped. The vehicle’s door was removed with the hydraulic spreaders. Springfield First Aid Squad assumed primary medical care.

August 14th – Engine 4 (Tour 2) responded to Wabeno Avenue and Linden Avenue for a motor vehicle crash. Engine 4 found a two vehicle crash with two injuries. One of the patients was extricated using the hydraulic spreaders. Springfield and Summit First Aid Squads provide medical treatment and transportation.

August 15th – Engine 4 (Tour 3) responded to Route 78 West for a motor vehicle roll-over. Engine 4 secured the vehicle while Springfield First Aid Squad proved care and transportation.

August 16th – Engine 4 (Tour 4) responded to Milltown Road for an outside smoke condition. Engine 4 found an illegal rubbish fire. Engine 4 extinguished the fire and advised to cease burning brush.

August 18th – Engine 4 (Tour 1) placed on mutual aid stand-by in Springfield Fire Headquarters for the Millburn Fire Department.

August 22nd – Engine 4 (Tour 2) responded to a Jade Meadow Drive residence for a sparking electrical outlet. Engine 4 checked the electrical panel and secured the power.
