Temple Beth Ahm Yisrael

A rundown of Temple Beth Ahm Yisrael events for the month of October has been released and they have been listed on the Springfielder.com Community Calendar.

On Thursday, October 3rd at 8:00 p.m., stop by the Barnes & Noble on Route 22 for “Coffee and Clergy”, an interesting and lively session with Rabbi Mark Mallach of Temple Beth Ahm Yisrael and Pastor David Knecht of Holy Cross Lutheran Church.  All are welcome to join in the discussion.

On October 4th at 6:30 p.m., Temple Beth Ahm Yisrael is hosting “Shabbat Alive!” – a spiritual Kabbalat Shabbat that’s fun for the whole family where you can sing and dance to your favorite Shabbat tunes.

There will be a special shabbat service on October 11 at 8:00 p.m.  Shabbat services will be augmented with a special program. Dr. Jonathan Golden, Professor at Drew University and Hillel Director, will speak on “The Jewish Communities of Cuba” as well as Jewish communities in other parts of the world. Dr. Golden has traveled frequently to Havana and has an intimate knowledge of the remaining Jewish institutions and their strong commitment to the continuation of Judaism, both prayer and study, under the most difficult circumstances. All are welcome!

On Thursday, October 17th at 7:45 p.m., stop by the “Torah on Tap” Men’s Study Group.  No prior experience is necessary but you are recommended to come with “a thirst for knowledge and a taste for microbrews.”  There is no charge to attend and everyone is welcome.

For an enjoyable, musical and active service for families with preschool age children, there will be a Kids’ Kabbalat Shabbat Service on October 18th at 6:30 p.m.

Lastly, the Women’s League Clothing Drive will take place on Sunday, October 27th from 9:00 a.m. to noon.  Look for the tent in Temple Beth Ahm Yisrael’s parking lot to donate clothing, shoes (in separate bags), accessories, household items and toys.  They do not accept books, CVR tapes, CDs, kitchen appliances or furniture. All items should be securely tied in large garbage bags. For questions call Andrea Wohl at 973-467-8642.
